artist statement

I'm a multi-disciplinary iskwêw, independent dance artist, creator, choreographer and Auntie Culture enthusiast of Nêhiyaw Métis and mixed-settler ancestry.

Originally from Treaty 4 territory Saskatchewan, I create work that reflects Nêhiyaw/Métis cosmology within the context of contemporary dance, Indigenous performance and Indigenous futurism.

Fusing interdisciplinary collaboration, de-colonial practices and embodied research methodologies, my work references protocol, ritual, relationship to the natural/spirit world and Ancestral knowledge.

My practice is intergenerational and vocational; it’s a living and lived experience.

bio

Originally from Treaty 4 territory Saskatchewan [Turtle Island], I create work that reflects Nêhiyaw/Métis cosmology within the context of Indigenous performance, Indigenous futurism and contemporary dance.

My creations have been presented at theatres and festivals across so-called Canada, including Kwê⚡ at Matriarchs Uprising and The Dance Centre’s Dance In Vancouver.

In the summer of 2020, I conducted land-based research in my home province of Saskatchewan, fusing interdisciplinary collaboration, de-colonial practices and embodied research towards the creation of Kisiskâciwan. The show has toured to Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Australia.

During the pandemic, I created CO-VIDS, a series of short experimental dance films.

I'm the new Artistic Associate at Raven Spirit Dance, and have been artist-in-residence at the NAC Indigenous Theatre, The Dance Centre, and Shadbolt Arts Centre.

I resides as a guest on the Ancestral and unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ/, and Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm territories, colonially known as Vancouver.
